Reading for today
Old Testament: Nehemiah 8, 9, 10
New Testament: 1 Corinthians 8
Thoughts from today’s reading
Nehemiah 8:1-11. We see the priests and the people giving the word of God the place of honour in the assembly and the people stand up as the word is to be read. It was only as the word was read that the people could be given the understanding of it by the priests who taught and instructed them. Under the New Covenant, the Lord says we will all be taught by Him, and He also gave us the Holy Spirit to teach us and lead us into all truth.
1 Corinthians 8. Paul admonishes the believers to beware of knowledge that causes one to be puffed up thus disregarding the faith of new believers who may be misled or hurt by what we do.
1. Father, may we keep reading your word because it gives us understanding and guides us deeper into your truth. Thank you for counting us worthy to be vessels and carriers of your word.
2. Lord, I pray that I would always be an example to the believers, in my words and especially in my actions, in Jesus’ name, amen.
