Reading for today
Old Testament: Esther 1, 2, 3
New Testament: 1 Corinthians 10
Thoughts from today’s reading
Esther 3:1-6. Hamman did not initially notice that Mordecai was not bowing to him at the gate. It was the other people who had an issue with Mordecai not doing what they were doing that brought it to Hamman’s attention.
People that do not agree with your faith or position on issues in life can become active proponents to try and bring judgement against you.
1 Corinthians 10:11-13. The things that are written in the scriptures which detail what the people of God went through are for our instruction. They help us to stand and take the right course of action when we face our own times of temptation.
1. Lord, may every voice that rises against us to expose our faults and to call out our errors be silenced in Jesus’ name. As your word declares, if any man digs a pit to trap us, let them be the captives of their own schemes. May those who seek to harm us, even when we have done nothing wrong but are standing on our belief in God, be disappointed and may every plan they put in place turn around to work in our favour in Jesus’ name, amen.
2. Heavenly Father, as we read through the things written in your word, may we find the secrets to escape temptations we face on a daily basis. Let our strength of conviction rise by the fellowship in your word and with your Spirit, so that we rise above the things that seek to sink us. This we pray in Jesus’ name, amen.
