Reading for today
Old Testament: Esther 4, 5, 6
New Testament: 1 Corinthians 11
Thoughts from today’s reading
Esther 6:1-4. The king could not sleep all night and asked for all the records of things that had happened in his reign to be read. When they got to the account of Mordecai which showed that he had uncovered a plot to assassinate the king, he asked if Mordecai had been rewarded. Hamman came the next morning to request that Mordecai be hanged, and at the moment he came in, the king was sending out his attendant to get one of the princes to honour Mordecai.
The Lord has a way of protecting His people just in time. The coincidence in this story can only point to the marvellous and intricate way the Lord delivers us out of trouble.
1 Corinthians 11:17-22. The Lord hates division in His church and apostle Paul points out that when there are factions caused by division, those who are approved of God will be distinguished from those who are not.
1. Lord, you are the one that works all things together for our good. We trust you that wherever men are plotting to harm us, by your wisdom, You bring us out of their traps and cause them to be caught in it. Thank you Lord for being our great deliverer in Jesus’ name, amen.
2. Father, you hate divisions among brethren for you are the one that said it is pleasant for us to dwell together in unity. Wherever there are causes for division, we pray for the peace of the Lord to bring unity and restoration of broken relationships. Thank you Lord for making us approved through Jesus Christ as we continue to follow him.
