Reading for today
Old Testament: Job 3, 4, 5
New Testament: 1 Corinthians 14
Thoughts from today’s reading
Job 5:17-22. Those that have a relationship with God will be chastised by Him when they are going astray because He considers them as His. They will also enjoy the benefits of being protected from trouble, famine, wars, evil tongues and wild beasts. They will enjoy great peace and fulfilment because they are in a covenant with the God who created all things.
1 Corinthians 14:7-15. When we are communicating spiritual things to others, it has to be done in a way that they are able to understand otherwise it will have no effect. We are encouraged as believers to seek spiritual gifts that enable us to build up others.
1. Lord, I thank you that I am your child and no child is without correction. Thank you that you correct me when I go astray so that I return to the path of reason. Thank you that my relationship with you also guarantees my peace in the face of any form of trouble. I give you the praise for this in Jesus’ name, amen.
2. Lord Jesus, You have given gifts to the body of Christ through the power of Your Holy Spirit. I pray that every spiritual gift that makes me an effective communicator of the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ will be released in my life right now in your name.
