Old Testament: Job 9, 10, 11
New Testament: 1 Corinthians 16
Thoughts from today’s reading
Job 10:8-12. We have been made by God and He formed us in the most intricate detail. This same God who made us preserves us by His constant care and attention He gives to us.
He is the manufacturer and so He is the first port of call when things go wrong in our lives. He has the knowledge and the power to put things right in our lives.
1 Corinthians 16:8-9. Apostle Paul had the option to go to Corinth where he was treated well but he chose to stay at Ephesus where there were many that opposed him and even sought to harm him. This was because God had opened an effective door for him to minister the gospel and he was more concerned about fulfilling Gods call than enjoying his personal comfort.
1. Lord, we come into your presence, for in your presence is fulness of joy and pleasures await us at your right hand. Your presence is life and peace, healing and restoration, favour and exaltation, correction and redirection. As the fish will not survive out of water, so we need your presence to thrive. Thank you for granting us unreserved access to your presence by your Spirit and the grace of Jesus Christ.
2. Heavenly Father, I come to you in consecration to your will. I ask for strength to be able to say like Jesus said, “Not my will but Yours be done”. Help me to put your assignment for my life ahead of personal gains and comfort so that at the end of my life’s journey I can hear you say, “Well done good and faithful servant”.
