Thoughts from today’s reading
1 Samuel 17:42-47. Here we see the story of David becoming known to all of Israel. He had been anointed by God to be king, but there was a process he had to go through before he would get to the throne. David was full of confidence in God and he spoke what he believed. By speaking, he found out what was happening in the battle, by speaking he was taken to the king as one that had a solution to the problem, by speaking he was allowed to fight the war which by the laws of Israel he was not old enough to be part of. By speaking he counteracted what the giant said he would do to him and by speaking he declared his victory in God.
One of our greatest keys to victory is to keep speaking the word of God into our situation without allowing what the situation dictates to deter us.
John 17. Jesus prays for His disciples at the time and for all who will believe in Him. He prays that God will keep us in His name from the world and the evil one. He prays that all the believers will be one as He is one with the Father. He prays that we will be sanctified by the Truth which is the word of God.
There is a cleansing and setting apart that takes place whenever we fellowship with the word of God through hearing, reading, speaking and meditating on that word.
Prayer
1. Heavenly Father, we give you thanks that Jesus Christ our Lord and King went through every battle that withstood mankind and he won the ultimate victory for us. He has made us kings to reign with him in this life. We take up the word of God in our mouth which is the weapon that we use to withstand every enemy that seeks to pull us back into bondage and defeat. We speak life today, health, strength, victory, provision, protection and great peace. Thank you that we are more than conquerors through Jesus Christ.
2. Jesus we pray as you prayed for us, that we would be kept in your name. Your name is a strong tower, your name is healing, your name is peace, your name is a banner of victory, your name is provision, your name is I am that I am, we therefore declare that we are kept in your name and do not lack any of all these benefits.
We pray that all the I am represents is available to us and we are kept by that great name. We ask that all who believe in you receive the full assurance and benefits of what Your great name represents to us.
