Day 179

Reading for today
Old Testament: Psalm 57, 58, 59
New Testament: Colossians 1

Thoughts from today’s reading
Psalm 57:2-3. God is the one that is able to do all things for us. When we cry out to Him, he sends mercy and truth to help us in the situations we find ourselves. Mercy is what He performs while truth is what we must follow and also perform. Our change comes from what He does, but also what we do based on what he has revealed to us.

Colossians 1:19-23. God has placed all the fullness of life in Christ Jesus, and then through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ he has snatched us out of darkness and death and made us live in Christ. If we live in Christ, then we have access to all the fullness of God’s creation which is in Christ, so we should never be lacking spiritually, mentally, emotionally, physically and materially.

Prayer
1. Thank you Lord for you pour out your mercies and truth over us in a time of need. We see all you did by mercy in Psalm 136, as you created the heavens and earth by mercy, you delivered your people from bondage and took them to a land of promise by mercy, you satisfy all living things by mercy. We also thank you for truth that makes us free, and for the the Holy Spirit that leads us in all truth. By mercy and truth you perform all things for me, Hallelujah!
2. Thank you Father for placing me in the body of Christ where I have access to every single thing I could ever need. Wherever my focus has been on obtaining things outside of Christ, I shift that focus back to the person of Christ Jesus and I remind myself of all that He has done in fulfilling God’s promises to mankind. Thank you Lord, I receive all that you have for me through Christ Jesus, amen.
