Reading for today
Old Testament: Psalm 84, 85, 86
New Testament: 2 Thessalonians 1
Thoughts from today’s reading
Psalm 86:6-13. The Lord hears our prayers when we are in trouble, He is more willing to help us than we desire to be helped. Great is His mercy which he shows towards us in rescuing us from the very depths of hell.
2 Thessalonians 1:3-8. Even though we go through affliction, trouble and tribulations for Christ’s sake, we are assured rest, peace and judgement on those who trouble us, in the day when Jesus Christ appears.
Prayer
1. Father, you are the God that hears and answers the prayers of your people. Today we come before you to receive mercies for you have poured it out greatly upon us. By your great mercies, we say that we are rescued from the lowest hell. Thank you for rescue from the hell of a broken marriage, a difficult financial situation, a debilitating sickness, suicidal thoughts, and fears of the current situation. We give you praise because you have taken us by the hand and raised us up far above all that sought to destroy us.
2. Lord, we thank you for the assurance of your word that we will have the final victory in every situation here on earth and for eternity. We pray that you will continue to work in us to be patient and to do your will. We pray that Jesus Christ will be glorified in us and we in Him. Thank you for never leaving us nor forsaking us in all we go through.
