Thoughts from today’s reading
Psalm 150. Praise the Lord! Let everything that has breath praise Him. Breath is something that moves, it also displaces the air around it to make a sound, and only the living have it. All the instrument mentioned here make movement and displace air to make sounds. Our praise should not only be limited to these instruments, but anything we can move to make a sound is an instrument to praise God. Our walking, running, driving, typing, eating, working, etc. all become vessels of praise. Notice that thinking is not on the list, because this is done in the silence of our mind. If we think of praise, then we must do it by moving something, exhaling our breath to praise God.
Hebrews 6:9-12. We must never become complacent in our walk with God, but must actively keep seeking Him and doing good in ministering to those around us. We must daily build on our faith, but also on patience. God is faithful and never forgets all that we do in honour of His name. He therefore greatly rewards those who are steadfast until the end.
Prayer
1. Father, with every breath that you have given us, we choose to give you the praise, for only the living can praise you. The very breath in our lungs comes from you and so with every breath and movement, we pour out our praise on you O most magnificent God. Every thought of gratitude we have for all that you have done for us, we turn each one into breath, movement and high praise to God. Thank you Lord for your life freely given to us, Hallelujah to your name.
2. Thank you Lord that you are not unjust to forget every work and labour of love we have shown to your name as we minister to our fellow man. Father, sometimes we feel weakened, hurt by those we helped, weary in the work we do, and tired in the trials we face, but you are more willing to give us strength and grace than we are to receive it from you. We receive empowerment from you today to keep walking, growing and attaining your promises for our lives.
