Reading for today
Old Testament: Isaiah 27, 28, 29
New Testament: 2 John 1
Thoughts from today’s reading
Isaiah 28:5-6. When we rise up to do what is right, the Lord will empower us with what we need to be successful. When the lepers at the gate of Samaria decided to move towards the camp of the Syrian army that fought against the Israelites, God went before them and caused their enemies to hear the sound of chariots so that they fled leaving their camps and supplies behind (2 Kings 7:3-9).
2 John 1:4-6. Walking in the truth of the commandment of God is walking in love to God and mankind. This is the commandment Jesus left us with and it pleases the Father when we obey it.
Prayer
1. Lord, I rise up today and take a stand for righteousness as I go about my duties as a Christ follower, parent, partner, friend, entraprenuer, citizen, and I trust you to supply wisdom, strength, direction and that which will grant me victory in all my dealings. Thank you for crowning me with your glory and beauty.
2. Father, I walk in obedience to your commandment to love God and my fellow man. Today, I declare the characteristics of love working in my life. I say that I am patient, I do not envy, I am not boastful or proud, I am not selfish, I am not easily provoked, I refuse to think evil of others or rejoice in iniquity, but rejoice in the truth. Thank you that when we walk in love you promise that we will never fail.
