Reading for today
Old Testament: Isaiah 51, 52, 53
New Testament: Revelation 6
Thoughts from today’s reading
Isaiah 53. Isaiah saw clearly the sufferings leading up to the death of Jesus Christ. He points out that He would bear our iniquity, be wounded for our transgression, and by His wounds we would be healed. God always shows His servants what He will accomplish in the earth before He does it (Amos 3:7).
Revelation 6. We begin to see the nature of God’s judgement on the earth as the time of the end approaches. Those who believe in Him are not the target of His wrath, but those who have denied Him and oppose His will on the earth. He sent this warning thousands of years in advance to give all mankind time to repent, yet there are those who will still choose to carry on in evil.
Prayer
1. Thank you father for sending Jesus Christ to die for our sins and to heal our bodies. We are grateful for these benefits of the salvation that we have received through Him. Today, we choose to live in righteousness, and if in anyway we have sinned, we rely on the blood of Jesus Christ to cleanse us from it. Today, we declare that we are healed and by faith we walk in divine health.
2. O Lord God, you are merciful and mighty, holy and righteous, faithful and true. Thank you for revealing in advance the judgements to come, so that we have the space and time to choose the right paths to take. We pray that as we have chosen your paths of salvation, that we will not turn our back on you. We pray for our family, friends, and colleagues who do not know you, Lord, let your mercy meet their hearts that they may turn from the ways of unrighteousness and embrace the sacrifice of Jesus Christ which makes us free. Thank you for hearing our prayers as we pray in Jesus’ name, amen.
