Day 258

Reading for today
Old Testament: Jeremiah 27, 28, 29
New Testament: Revelation 20

Thoughts from today’s reading
Jeremiah 29:7-14. Gods thoughts towards us are of peace and He therefore expects us to call upon Him to establish that peace in our lives and surroundings. We are to become channels or instruments of peace on the earth, just like Jesus Christ came as the Prince of peace.

Revelation 20. We see there are two sets of judgement that are given to men. The first judgement is for the saints of God and they will reign with Christ for a thousand years after that judgement. The second judgement is for everyone else and they will be judged according to what is written in the book of life. While we are alive, we have the opportunity to make choices and live according to the book of life, we should also persuade men to turn from wickedness to Gods righteousness so that they may have their name written in God’s book of life.

Prayer
1. Father, you have great thoughts about our lives, and you reveal that those thoughts are to give us a future and bring us to a place of accomplished expectations. Just as Jesus Christ came to be the Prince of peace on the earth, and He healed the sick, cast out demons, raised the dead and established your kingdom on earth, so also have you empowered us to do the same. We therefore speak healing, life, provision, protection, progress, strength and much more into our lives and the lives of those around us. We speak the peace of God to the communities we find ourselves in right now in Jesus’ name, amen.
2. Lord Jesus, while we are in this life, your word encourages us to judge ourselves so that we should not be judged (1 Corinthians 11:31-32). May our hearts be sensitive to the voice of your Spirit and may we be quick to repent of our missteps and to forgive those who wrong us. May we always hunger and thirst for righteousness that we may be far from evil. Thank you that our names are written in the book of life and we are redeemed from the second death.
