Day 263

Reading for today
Old Testament: Jeremiah 44, 45, 46, 47

Thoughts from today’s reading
Jeremiah 45:4-5. The Lord reminds us here that the most important thing to any human being is their life, their own soul. Baruch was seeking this worlds good which was hard to come by in the midst of the trouble that faced the nation of Israel, but God promised to preserve his life in the midst of all the trouble.

Prayer
1. Lord Jesus, you said, what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and to loose his own soul. In the difficult times that we face when there is trouble all around us, in our nation and other nations of the world, remind us that our life is what counts, both in this life and in the hereafter. Teach us contentment, show us your power to preserve and provide through seasons of famine, help us understand that our life has been committed into your hands and you will keep that which is committed to you. Thank you Lord Jesus for you will never forsake your righteous ones neither will they be found begging for bread. May we be reminded to speak this message of hope in the gospel of Jesus Christ to those around us who do not know God, we also pray Lord that you would grant them the salvation of their souls. Thank you for hearing our prayers in Jesus’ name, amen.
