Day 269

Reading for today
Old Testament: Ezekiel 11, 12, 13, 14

Thoughts from today’s reading
Ezekiel 13. The Lord reveals here that the ones responsible for declaring His word to the people should not be speaking the word deceitfully. The prophets were declaring what they wanted, and what the people wanted to hear rather than what the Lord was saying. In 2 Timothy 4:1-5, the Lord warns us about a time when the people will have itching ears and look for teachers who will tell them what they want to hear. Believers must be vigilant to preach the unadulterated word of God in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation.

Prayer
1. Heavenly Father, we come before your throne to obtain wisdom and strength, so that with an honest heart we will speak your truth today and always. May we not be moved by what people want to hear, which may not be aligned with what you are saying now. Lord, may our hearts remain faithful to the truth of the everlasting gospel of Jesus Christ and may we do no injustice in presenting that truth to all the world around us. Thank you Father for making us faithful witnesses by the help of your Holy Spirit.
