Reading for today
Old Testament: Joel 1, 2, 3, Amos 1
Thoughts from today’s reading
Joel 2:25-27. Our God is a God of complete restoration as promised in these verses. The locusts described here are not 4 different types of locusts, but the 4 stages of the locusts growth. At each stage of it’s growth, it devours vegetation and when it is fully grown and joins a swarm, they can leave a land desolate of vegetation.
God is not only going to restore what the swarming locust devoured, but He will go back to each stage that they devoured, even to the stage where they devoured only very little, and He will restore everything.
Prayer
1. Heavenly Father, we thank you for your precious promises that never fail. You gave an amazing promise to your people, that when they return to you, you would restores all that was lost to devourers. Thank you that in Jesus Christ, we have returned to you and because we called on the name of the Lord, we will never be put to shame (Roman 10:11). You showed us through the analogy of the locusts that you are able to restore all that has been devoured over the years and the stages of our lives. As we have grown, certain problems have grown with us and aim to leave us desolate. Thank you for complete deliverance from these problems, even down to the very root and inception of them. We thank you for complete restoration in the places that are apparent, and in the areas that are unseen. We give you all the glory because we are guaranteed that in Christ, we will never be ashamed for putting our whole life in His hand.
