Day 52

Reading for today

Old Testament: Deuteronomy 1, 2, 3
New Testament: Luke 8

Thoughts from today’s reading
Deuteronomy 1. This book of the bible gives a summary of the journey from Egypt to the borders of the promised land. In verses 22-26 Moses reveals that the idea to send the 12 spies into the land came from the people. It was a good thing to do, but they now went against their own ideas and believed an evil report of the land.
Deuteronomy :23-28. God does not want us dwelling on the past. Moses had missed his opportunity to get into the promised land and he was pleading with God to reverse the decision. God told him not to speak on the matter anymore but rather showed him the future, the land of promise, and then He told him to command Joshua to take the next steps with the people.

Luke 8:40-56. Jesus, the word of God was on the move in response to the request and supplication of Jairus, but on the way another woman with an issue seemed to hijack the power in the word of God to get her own healing. This did not stop the effectiveness of the word to also raise Jairus’ daughter from the dead.

Prayer
1. Heavenly Father, may the things I request and allow not be a stumbling block to me. May I always hold on to the report of the Lord and not of any other thing. I say let God be true in my life and every man a liar. Thank you Lord in Jesus name.
2. Father I ask that my prayers and belief in your word will cause the movement of your word to not only benefit me, but to touch any other person in my neighbourhood that needs a touch from you. As we pray for protection and health, may everyone around us experience your mercy and also receive their protection and good health in Jesus name.
