Reading for today
Old Testament: Deuteronomy 7, 8, 9
New Testament: Luke 10
Thoughts from today’s reading
Deuteronomy 8. There is a strong emphasis on remembering the Lord for all the blessings, goodness and empowerment that He brings to His people.
Men have a tendency to get distracted by success and it takes a lot of maturity to still follow God when the going is good. This is why The Lord did a lot of testing of the people in the wilderness to mature them to the point that they would understand that man’s sustenance starts and is maintained by the word out of God’s mouth.
Luke 10:25-37. The parable of the Good Samaritan reminds us that true religion is about being a neighbour to our fellow man. A good neighbour will show mercy to those in dire need.
Prayer
1. Heavenly Father, I thank you for all that you have given me. You have taught us that man does not live by bread alone but by every word from your mouth. I honour you as my great provider and worship you as my only God.
2. Lord I pray for everyone that is in my reach that I can truly be a neighbour to. I ask Lord that you extend your love, mercy and kindness through me to help my fellow man in need. May I be a channel to lead anyone who does not know you to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Thank you Father, in Jesus name.
