Reading for today
Old Testament: Deuteronomy 10, 11, 12
New Testament: Luke 11
Thoughts from today’s reading
Deuteronomy 10:12-13. The commandments or instructions of God are very important because God has revealed them for our own good.
My 8 year old son asked me “why did God allow men to have corona virus?” I said to him that it was not God that allowed it. That according to reports the virus may have come from eating certain animals which God has said we should not eat. So I told him that God had warned us not to do certain things many thousands of years ago to keep us safe today.
Luke 11:5-13. These verses reveal the essence of the prayer of intercession. Going to a friend you have a good relationship with to ask for help on behalf of another friend that has no relationship with the first friend.
You may not need healing, but you can ask God to heal your fellow man who does not yet have a relationship with God. If we keep asking, He will answer. If we ask for good, He will not answer with evil.
Prayer
1. Thank you Father because all that you have commanded and instructed us in your word is for our own good. I open my ears to hear and obey your word for it is life and healing to my body, it is strength and restoration to my soul and it gives wisdom and direction to my spirit.
2. Lord Jesus you are our great friend that sticks closer than a brother. We come to you today to ask for your mercy, grace and healing upon those that need it at this hour. Lord, we ask that you preserve the life of those affected by covid-19 that they may live and not die for it is your will that men will not perish but come to the knowledge of your truth. We ask that you keep the healthcare professionals safe as they serve on the frontlines. We ask that you give the scientific community wisdom to expedite treatments for this disease. Lord, we ask that those that are affected financially will find help to sustain themselves and their families. You are the great shepherd, please keep those we pray for as your sheep and lead them beside still waters where fear will not play on their minds, but the peace of God will protect their hearts. Let a multitude of souls be saved, delivered from darkness and passed over to eternal life in Jesus’ name we pray.
