Day 71

Reading for today
Old Testament: Joshua 24, Judges 1, 2
New Testament: John 3

Thoughts from today’s reading
Joshua 24:9-10. Joshua recounted what Balaam tried to do to the children of Israel. He was requesting for God to curse the children of Israel because Balak was going to pay him for doing so, but God did not listen to his request thus delivering the Israelites out of his hand.
Words spoken against us are harmful and we should seek cover in God against all evil words.

John 3:26-36. John’s disciples were concerned that Jesus was becoming more popular than John. When they asked him about it, he said to them that Jesus must increase and he must decrease. Jesus is from above and so above all and anyone who testifies of Him or follows him must be subsumed in Him so that all that will be seen is Jesus Christ.
That is why the Apostle Paul said it is no longer I that live, but Christ lives in me.

Prayer
1. Father thank you that you do not listen to the voice of accusation, condemnation or curses against us. You gave us the blood of the lamb and the word of our testimony to overcome these voices. We declare today that no weapon formed against us shall be able to prosper and any tongue that rises against us in judgement is condemned in Jesus’ name. Amen.
2. Lord we pray that you increase in us, in our mind, thinking, behaviour, attitudes and outlook of life. Let Jesus be glorified in us so that men may see our good works and glorify God in heaven. We say not my will, but your will be done. Thank you that Jesus will be seen in me and in all I do.
