Reading for today
Old Testament: Judges 15, 16, 17
New Testament: John 8
Thoughts from today’s reading
Judges 16. There were several warnings to Samson that Delilah was trying to get him arrested by the Philistines yet he kept on going back to her. This eventually landed him in captivity. However in spite of his indiscretion the Lord still used his weakness to fulfil His purpose.
John 8:1-12. Its funny that the men who caught the woman in adultery only brought her for punishment and not her partner. The law clearly states that the judgement is for both parties. Jesus was wise in His answer to them which made them all abandon their unjust cause.
Prayer
1. Lord, may your strength be made perfect in our weaknesses and by your grace may we not succumb to the things that are designed to destroy our life and destiny. Guide us in the right way by your spirit and may we follow you to the end in Jesus name.
2. Lord help us to call sin what it is and not show partiality in our judgement allowing certain things to be ok for some but wrong for others. Also help us to remember that we were saved by your grace and not by our own works of righteousness. As we encounter those who have fallen, let us by love restore them and not seek to condemn them.
