Day 106

Reading for today
Old Testament: 2 Kings 3, 4, 5
New Testament: Acts 17

Thoughts from today’s reading
2 Kings 5:1-6. The slave girl who was serving Naaman’s wife gave witness to the power of God at work in prophet Elisha. Her words went from her mistress to Naaman, to the king of Syria and then to the king of Israel.
Jesus said we will be brought before kings and those in authority to testify of the kingdom of God. Our position in life should never limit us from speaking the gospel and expecting it to reach the highest places of the earth.

Acts 17:10-12. The Berean Christians heard Paul preach in the synagogue possibly on the Sabbath day, but they searched the scriptures daily to verify everything they had heard.
It is not enough to listen to the word on one day a week only, we must search the scriptures daily to help our faith.

Prayer
1. Heavenly Father, thank you that we shall not be ashamed of the gospel of Christ for it is the power of God unto salvation. No matter where we are or who we stand before, grant us boldness to declare this message trusting that You will establish it in the hearts of those who hear it either small or great. This we pray in Jesus’ name.
2. Jesus you said if we are your disciples we will abide in your word, then will we know the truth that makes us free (John 8:31-32). Thank you for the grace and discipline to read through the scriptures daily and for faith and truth that comes from being in your word.
