Reading for today
Old Testament: 1 Chronicles 11, 12, 13
New Testament: Acts 28
Thoughts from today’s reading
1 Chronicles 12: 17-18. When David was exiled from Israel as he fled from king Saul, people kept joining him, from those who knew how to throw stones, to those who could use the bow, to those who used all kinds of weapons of war. Novices to experts joined his company.
These people came because God was helping David and made men respond to help him. When all the men of war gathered to him, the bible describes it as a great army like the army of God. God’s heavenly army is mighty and lacking nothing in skill for war, so He made it on earth for David that his army lacked no skill for war on earth.
Acts 28:1-6. Paul and all that were on the ship were saved from the sea as the Lord promised. When they came to land and were being warmed beside a fire, a viper fastened to Paul’s hand, but he shook off the beast into the fire and felt no harm.
The enemy is never happy when we receive the fulfilment of God’s word and he will do all he can to contradict what God has said.
Prayer
1. Heavenly Father, I thank you that you are my helper and as you are resourced in heaven, so you have prepared for me to be resourced on earth. Thank you for sending me helpers with all types of skills that assist me to fulfil your call on my life. Thank you for also making me a helper for others to fulfil their assignment in life.
2. Lord Jesus, you said that we will trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy. Thank you that whatever the enemy throws at us after you have given us victory will have no power against us. We give you praise for your shielding hand that keeps us from all harm at all times.
