Reading for today
Old Testament: 1 Chronicles 14, 15, 16
New Testament: Romans 1
Thoughts from today’s reading
1 Chronicles 15:11-15. The first time the children of Israel tried to bring the Ark of God to Jerusalem, it ended in the death of one of the men who carried it on a cart. This time David consulted with the priests and they in turn consulted with the Lord on how to handle the Ark correctly.
There is a way that we must serve God, and He leads, directs and shows us how. We cannot accomplish in human strength what is meant to be done by the grace of God. We cannot have grace if we do not come to God to receive it from Him.
Romans 1:16-17. The gospel of Christ is the power of God to bring salvation to all of mankind. We must never be ashamed of preaching and declaring it no matter how the world tries to make it look like foolishness. Those who keep denying the gospel open themselves up to the wrath of God instead of the righteousness that God freely offers to all through Christ.
Prayer
1. Heavenly Father, we come to you for grace to do all that you command us to do. You said we cannot accomplish things by our might or power, but by your Spirit. Jesus you also said that without you we can do nothing. Help us to know that every accomplishment is by your enablement and to continually seek you to fill us with the wisdom to do all that we have identified that we must do.
2. Thank you Lord for the power of the gospel of Jesus Christ. May we with boldness continue to declare it to the nations and generations that they may turn from the wrath of God to the righteousness of Christ. This we ask in Jesus’ name, amen.
