Reading for today
Old Testament: Psalm 12, 13, 14
New Testament: Galatians 2
Thoughts from today’s reading
Psalm 13:3-4. We need to ask God to enlighten us wherever we are walking in darkness and are not sure of what to do. Walking in the light God gives enables us to live in victory over every enemy.
Galatians 2:11-21. The teaching of the New Testament points out the importance of the law being the way by which we find the strict standards of God and thus recognise sin and our inability to keep that law. This is why we need the saviour, Jesus Christ, through whom we died to the law and live by His faith, grace and power of God to be able to meet the strict standards of God.
Prayer
1. Lord, you have revealed in your word that I can pray for the eyes of my understanding to receive light to know you and your ways, to reveal the paths I should walk in and to grant me victory over my enemies. I pray right now that in the areas of my life where I am struggling with issues that are causing heaviness and grief, that you would give me light and understanding of what to do to change those situations. Speak to my heart and mind and grant me clear instructions that will lead to the resolutions of those situations. Thank you Lord for granting this to me in Jesus’ name, amen.
2. Heavenly Father, I thank you that I am crucified with Christ and yet I live because Christ lives in me. Today, I choose to live by the faith of the Son of God and not by trying to keep the law. I choose to walk in obedience to the word of God and the Spirit of Christ by which I am fully pleasing to God. Thank you Lord for enabling me to do so in Jesus’ name, amen.
