Reading for today
Old Testament: Exodus 2, 3, 4
New Testament: Matthew 18
Thoughts from today’s reading
Exodus 2:1-9. Moses’ mother perceived there was something about the child and she hid him so that the Egyptians would not kill him. It must have been a great act of faith and a miracle to hide a baby for 3 months without any neighbour noticing. Even when she decided to let him go, Moses’ sister kept following the basket.
When we perceive the plan of God in a situation we must keep following it until we see it come to pass.
Matthew 18. This chapter is full of lessons on maintaining healthy relationships as Christians. We should do all we can so we are not a source of offence. When we are offended, we should do all we can to resolve it with the person who offended us. We have to forgive no matter what, just like God has forgiven us in Christ. We receive forgiveness so we can give it.
Prayers
- Father help me to stand in the place of faith even when the world stands against what you have instructed me. Grant me patience, tenacity and stability to follow your plan for my life.
- I pray to be kind and tender hearted forgiving others that have offended me as Christ forgave me. Lord, let me not be a cause of offence to others and may I receive forgiveness from them if ever they feel offended by me.
