Reading for today
Old Testament: Psalm 123, 124, 125
New Testament: Titus 1
Thoughts from today’s reading
Psalm 125. It is God’s promise that when we trust Him, He surrounds us like the mountains surround Jerusalem, and He will not allow the wicked to prevail over us or anything that belongs to us. When the king of Syria sent an army to arrest Elisha the prophet, it was revealed that there were chariots of fire in the mountains that surrounded them, so Elisha ended up capturing the army that came to capture him (2 Kings 6:15-23).
Titus 1:5. This scripture infers that where there is no order, things would be lacking. It is the job of the minister or believer to set things in the proper order. There are qualifications necessary for anyone who should lead a church. When we overlook the right qualifications or where they are lacking, we end up with a system of disorder.
Prayer
1. Thank you Lord that you surround us like the mountains surround Jerusalem. You fortify us in the physical, but you also surround us with chariots of fire which are your mighty angels, so that we are fortified spiritually also. Father, we put our trust in you alone for vain is the help of man. Blessed be your name our saviour, deliverer, and redeemer.
2. Lord, we receive grace to put the teachings of your word into practice so that we are able to set things in order in our lives. May we not be tempted to overlook the right qualities or qualifications due to our biases or partiality, but to appoint the right people to do the right things. Thank you Lord for the order and good results that follow us when we practice what you have revealed to us.
