Day 21

Reading for today

Old Testament: Exodus 11, 12, 13
New Testament: Matthew 21

Thoughts from today’s reading

Exodus 11:7. God revealed the judgement that would come upon Egypt and then a statement is made here which seems to make no sense, “But against none of the children of Israel shall a dog move its tongue”.
The question is what does a dog have to do the with death of the firstborn? If you read Psalm 59:3-8 the dogs are described as fierce and wicked men who have conspired to kill the righteous, it says their mouths (tongues) are like sharp swords ready to attack.
The dogs tongue becomes paralysed where the child of God is concerned. No evil word or judgement against you will prosper.

Exodus 12:23. The Lord said He will pass through the land looking for the sign of the blood. If you notice, there is a destroyer carrying out the judgement whom God will instruct not to touch the blood covered house.
This remind me of what Jesus said in John 10:10, the thief came to destroy, but Jesus came to give us life through His blood sacrifice for us.

Exodus 13:1-2. God requires that the firstborn who should have faced the judgment of death in Egypt, but were spared by the blood should be consecrated unto Him.
We have been spared from the death due to Adam’s sin nature by the blood of Jesus Christ (Adam is described as the firstborn man). So if we have been spared from the judgement of the firstborn, then we are meant to consecrated unto God in our new life. Thats why the book of 1 Peter describes the church as a kingdom of priests (consecrated ones).

Matthew 21:16. Jesus again refers the the importance of reading the scriptures to understand what the children were doing. The scriptures are meant to reveal Christ to us, that is why we must constantly read it.

Prayers

1. Father I declare that by the blood of Jesus Christ shed for me, every tongue of the evil one will remain paralyse and unable to move against me. I am delivered from the intentions and expectation of wicked men in Jesus name.
2. Thank you Jesus that you came that I might have life in abundance. I declare that nothing will be stolen, killed or destroyed concerning my life in Jesus name.
3. Heavenly Father, I consecrate myself to you this day as a priest in your kingdom to offer up sacrifices of praise, worship, prayers and intercessions for those in my family, community and nation.
