Day 212

Reading for today
Old Testament: Proverbs 6, 7, 8
New Testament: Hebrews 8

Thoughts from today’s reading
Proverbs 6:6-11. Wisdom can be found in nature and everyday things around us. When you study the ants, you will find that even though they have no one telling them what to do, they take responsibility individually and also for their community.

Hebrews 8:9-13. The covenant based on the law written on tablets of stone is described as having fault, that is why a new covenant was made through Jesus Christ, by whom God is able to write His laws in our hearts and put them in our minds. In this covenant, we can know Him personally, in this covenant we are exposed to His mercies, and in this covenant He wipes away our sins to a place that He will never remember them.

Prayer
1. Father, please open my eyes to find wisdom in your creation around me and may I not miss the lessons that you teach through them. I ask for the wisdom that the ants have to fill my life. May I understand the place of personal and corporate responsibility, may I understand hard work in due season, may I understand discipline and the ability to delay gratification and may sleep, laziness and indifference have no power over me.
2. Lord, we thank you for making this new covenant with us and making it possible for us to know you as our Father. We choose to walk in accordance with the law’s you have put in us so that we love God with all our hearts and minds, and love our neighbours as ourselves. Let every blessing of this new covenant be upon us today and always, this we pray in Jesus’ name, amen.
