Reading for today
Old Testament: Proverbs 18, 19, 20
New Testament: Hebrews 12
Thoughts from today’s reading
Proverbs 18:14. When the spirit of a man is strong and healthy, it can sustain him through sicknesses of the body, mind or emotions. The spirit is also referred to as the heart of man, this is why Jesus came to bind up and heal the broken hearted. We must do things to invest in our spirit to make it stronger everyday. Reading the word, praying, praising and thanking God help to strengthen our spirit.
Hebrews 12:22-24. When we come to God, we have come to a place of great splendour, power and glory. Considering all that we have access to at the throne of God, approaching Him should never ever be our last resort, but should always be our first course of action.
Prayer
1. Thank you Lord Jesus that you came to heal me of a broken heart and spirit by the sacrifice you made on Calvary. I thank you that you have put in me a new heart, one that is strong to sustain me in every sphere of my life. I open up my spirit to the word of God and the life that flows through the word of God to build me up and strengthen me. I choose to invest time in prayer, praise and thanksgiving in your presence so that I am further strengthened to serve you and my fellow man.
2. Lord, you are the God of all power and might, heaven and earth are filled with your glory and splendour. You have given us access to the heavenly mount Zion where we have access to all your resources that empower us to live a victorious life. Thank you for an innumerable company of angels who you have given a charge concerning our safety. Thank you for the testimony of many great saints that encourage us in our life’s journey, and most of all, we thank you for the blood of Jesus Christ that speaks better things over our lives. We come before this great throne to obtain all that you have prepared for us in Jesus Christ.
