Reading for today
Old Testament: Isaiah 9, 10, 11
New Testament: 2 Peter 3
Thoughts from today’s reading
Isaiah 10:27. The anointing oil was one of the tokens used to separate the priests or kings for the service of God, it consecrated them to God and so they were not meant to be treated as common. The burden the priests were to carry were the articles of the house of the Lord, which included the Ark of the Covenant representing God’s presence. Any other burden was not allowed to come on them, and so the anointing of God fights against things that try to desecrate the anointed one.
2 Peter 3:8-9. God is eternal and so is not limited by time. A day or a thousand years are still but a moment to Him. When God makes a promise, it is done in the perspective of His timing which is eternal, but it may take time for us to see a physical manifestation, the passage of time should never make us doubt the fulfilment of His promises.
Prayer
1. Lord, thank you for the anointing of your Spirit over our lives. You have chosen us and set us apart as a royal priesthood and a Holy nation. Every thing that is a burden which tries to separate us from the service of God, we declare that they cannot remain on us, we declare that the anointing of God on us fights off those burdens. Every worry, anxiety, care, evil words against us, sicknesses, lack, confusion, fear, bad habits, anger and all that opposes liberty, we declare that you are destroyed from off our hearts and lives in Jesus’ name.
2. Heavenly Father, today we declare that you are faithful to your promises and we believe that the return of the Lord to judge the earth is imminent as you have declared. We choose to live our lives in godliness, righteousness and the fear of the Lord. We pull back from activities that entangle us in the world’s system and blinds us to the plan of God for the earth. Thank you that we your people will not miss your glorious return when you come to establish your eternal kingdom among men.
