Reading for today
Old Testament: Isaiah 18, 19, 20
New Testament: 1 John 3
Thoughts from today’s reading
Isaiah 20. The prophet Isaiah had to walk around naked for about 3 years signifying what God would to the nations that he prophesied against. This would have made him appear as a lunatic in the eyes of the people of Israel. Sometimes the commandments of God make us look crazy to the world around us.
1 John 3:8. Jesus Christ came to destroy the works of the devil, that is, sin and all that sin attracts like sicknesses and disease, fear, oppression, lack, confusion and all such works of darkness.
Prayer
1. Heavenly Father, I pray for the grace and the strength to obey you even when it doesn’t make sense and I appear to have lost my mind in the eyes of family, friends and community. Let my relationship with you grow deeper and stronger so that I am confident to discern your voice clearly when you speak to me.
2. Thank you Jesus that you came to destroy all the works of the devil. You said that the light would shine in darkness and the darkness would never overcome the light. I declare that every work of the devil and darkness are destroyed where my life and family are concerned. Jesus, your light and life in me overcomes sickness, fear, oppression, anxiety, low self-esteem, covetousness, jealousy, depression, lack, confusion, deception and every hidden work of the devil right now. You said every tree that the Father has not planted would be uprooted, I declare this to be so right now in my life in Jesus’ name, amen.
