Reading for today
Old Testament: Isaiah 21, 22, 23
New Testament: 1 John 4
Thoughts from today’s reading
Isaiah 22:20-24. The one who accepts the responsibility that God gives will also be given the key of authority to open what no one can shut, and to shut what no one can open. Because of their reliability and dependability they will be like a peg where the glory and posterity of their generations will be hung.
1 John 4:4-6. The greater one lives in us so we have overcome every other force in the world that opposes God. Those that are of the world speak and the world responds to them. It is also in our own speaking that we declare things to heaven and to the earth and they respond to us, and our words have power to override the words of the world. We overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word (speaking) of our testimony.
Prayer
1. Father, you are the one that has called us and strengthened us to serve before your presence. Today, I choose to accept the responsibility to order my life, family and circles of influence in the way of the Lord. I take the authority you have given me in Christ Jesus to shut the door of laziness and unfruitfulness. I open the door of opportunity, progress and excellence. May the glory you have ordained for my life and family rest upon me accordingly. This I pray in Jesus’ name, amen.
2. Father you have given us power in our mouth. Therefore I declare that by the word of my testimony, the world will hear my voice and every influence it has that is contrary to God will bow and make way for the will of God to be done in my life. I overcome the world by the the word of God’s power and the blood of Jesus Christ. I say there is a lifting where the world says we are cast down, I say there is light where the world says there is darkness, I say there is life where the world says there is death, I say all things are working together for my good where the world says things are falling apart. Thank you Lord that my words win every time through Jesus’ mighty power, amen.
