Reading for today
Old Testament: Isaiah 24, 25, 26
New Testament: 1 John 5
Thoughts from today’s reading
Isaiah 25:2-4. God commands the gates to be opened for the ones who keep the truth. If you keep the truth of God’s word, then The God of truth will keep you (your mind) in perfect peace. He has everlasting strength, so we can be assured that our mind will always be stronger than whatever trouble we face.
1 John 5:1-5. As believers, we are called to keep the commandments of God, this demonstrates that we love Him. His commandments are not burdensome and He will not ask us to do something that He has not given us the ability to do. Jesus very clearly said He leaves us with this commandment to follow, “Love the Lord your God with all you heart, mind, soul and strength, and love your neighbour as yourself”. If we do these things, we will live a life that overcomes the world always.
Prayer
1. Lord I thank you for opening up the gates to me and I can come into your gates with thanksgiving and your courts with praise. I will rejoice in you because this is the day that you have made and you keep my heart in perfect peace. I say that you Lord are the strength of my life therefore I will not be overwhelmed by anything that I face today.
2. Father I commit myself to obeying our commands today, for indeed they are not burdensome. Wherever I feel like I can’t keep your commandment, I come to your throne to receive grace and strength to overcome the limits in my mind. You have called me a world overcomer, so I declare that I win in every situation I face in life by my active faith in Christ Jesus.
