Reading for today
Old Testament: Isaiah 33, 34, 35
New Testament: Jude 1
Thoughts from today’s reading
Isaiah 33:6. In uncertain times, more than anything we need stability. Wisdom and knowledge gives us stability at such times. We know that it is God who gives wisdom to those that fear Him and this is the most precious of treasures we can find.
Jude 1:16-21. We must avoid the characteristics of mockers. These are people who have encountered God but do not live a life that acknowledges Him. We must guard our hearts so we do not fall into grumbling, complaining, lust, flattery, sensuality and causing divisions. We can be free from these things by being fervent in our spirit, praying with the help of the Holy Spirit thus keeping ourselves in the love of God which we express to those around us to help them rather than to take advantage of them.
Prayer
1. Heavenly Father, I come to you today and ask for wisdom and knowledge to navigate these uncertain times. By your wisdom, may I receive strength and stability to operate. You said the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, therefore I put you first in all situations I face. I acknowledge you Lord in all my ways, whether in dealing with relationships, work, business or recreation. Thank you for being my helper in this season, receive all my praise now and always.
2. Lord, I commit myself to the place of prayer with the help of your Holy Spirit. I make the decision to carve out substantial time daily to pray and seek your face. I recognise that there is work to be done to keep myself from falling in the way of mockers, and to be the person you want me to be who is committed to declaring your truth and saving others who are on their way to destruction. I receive your help to be all that you have purposed for me to be through Jesus Christ, amen.
