Reading for today
Old Testament: Isaiah 48, 49, 50
New Testament: Revelation 5
Thoughts from today’s reading
Isaiah 49:24-25. The Lord says He is able to deliver us out of the hand of lawful captivity and will fight against the things that fight against us. I would expect that if He fights for me, then He will deliver me, but He says He will fight for me but deliver my children. This makes us understand that some of the battles we face are not about us, but are targeted at the next generation, our children. Thank God that He helps us to win those battles.
Revelation 5:1-7. God has a great plan for mankind which He has written in a book. This writing is His will, and in order for His will to be executed, it has to be read and understood. No one was worthy to do it until The Lamb of God came and opened the book for us. Isaiah 29:11-12 refers to the vision in the book that no one could read, thus the people remained in bondage. We give God praise for our redeemer Jesus Christ who has prevailed to make the will of God available to us.
Prayer
1. Thank you Father for delivering me out of the hand of captivity, even when the captor had lawful reasons to hold me down. I praise you that the battles you have seen me through are not for my sake alone, but also for the well being of my children. I thank you that my children will come to the knowledge of Jesus Christ and live out the purpose of God for their lives. Thank you that they will not be plagued by confusion, immorality, lack of identity, misdirection, delays, sicknesses, distractions and any other thing that the adversary can throw at them. As you give me the grace and strength to overcome my battles, give me wisdom to teach the victory of those battles to my children. I praise you for this in Jesus’ name.
2. I praise you Lord Jesus for taking the scroll and opening the book to reveal the will of God to mankind. Thank you that through your blood, we have been given access to a new covenant based on the better promises in the book which is in the hand of the Father. You gave us access to eternal life, divine health, love, joy, peace, fulfilment, provisions, eternal purpose and much more. Thank you for giving us understanding through your Holy Spirit whenever I pick up your book to read your word which is your will.
