Reading for today
Old Testament: Jeremiah 21, 22, 23
New Testament: Revelation 18
Thoughts from today’s reading
Jeremiah 22:13-17. The Lord pronounces woe on the one who builds a house by unrighteousness. How we treat others who serve us is of concern to God and He will judge an individual or nation which robs the people of what they are due.
Revelation 18:11-18. God will judge the worlds system that trades in everything including the body and souls of men. As believers we should be mindful not to sell our body or soul to the world as it profits us nothing to gain the world and lose our soul. We should also stand against the systems that trade the body and souls of men.
Prayer
1. Father, we pray that your righteous judgement will come upon every system that oppresses the people. May governments and nations that refuse to do justice for their people fall as you have declared. Lord we pray replace them with leaders after your own heart who will establish equity in the land. Thank you Lord for hearing this prayer because you desire for the peace of men that they may have the opportunity to hear your message of peace to all men.
2. Father, we stand with Jesus Christ the saviour, and refuse to give any part of our soul or body in exchange for what the world has to offer. We pray for those who have been captured and trafficked whether physically, mentally, emotionally or even digitally, Father may the captives be taken out of the hand of their oppressors, and may you deliver them by your mighty power Lord Jesus. May the systems holding them be exposed and destroyed in Jesus’ mighty name, amen.
