Reading for today
Old Testament: Jeremiah 24, 25, 26
New Testament: Revelation 19
Thoughts from today’s reading
Jeremiah 26:24. Jeremiah was persecuted for the words that he spoke and the people wanted to kill him for his words, however, God had told Jeremiah that no one would be able to withstand him for the message that he carried.
Revelation 19:10. An angel is a minister of God and this term is used to describe both heavenly beings like Michael or Gabriel, and human beings like Prophets and Apostles. The angel John saw identified as a human being and he told John not to worship him, because worship belongs to the Lord God only. We should never be tempted to worship any type of angel because of the message they carry or the signs they perform.
Prayer
1. Father, we give you thanks that you are the one who preserves the vessels that carry your word. As we go about preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ, we trust you to protect us from persons and systems that seek to oppose this message. We say, your kingdom come and your will be done on earth as it is in heaven and may all systems or governments here on earth succumb to the power of your majesty.
2. Lord Jesus, you are the one that gave gifts to men to carry out your work here on earth. You gave some prophesy and you gave some signs and wonders. May we always acknowledge you the giver of the gift and worship you only. In anyway we are tempted to worship men, may we be reminded that worship belongs to God only. Thank you for impressing this truth in our heart now and always.
