Old Testament: 30, 31, 32
New Testament: Revelation 21
Thoughts from today’s reading
Jeremiah 32:13-15 . The Lord’s instructions to Jeremiah concerning the tile deed of the field he had purchased was very clear. He was to hide the deeds in an earthen vessel to preserve it for many days because it would be a sign that the children of Israel would come back to inhabit their land. Before Israel was restored as a nation again in 1948, one of the evidences that was used at the international court to secure their claim to the land was this title deed of Jeremiah. They were found in some excavations that were done around that time. The instructions of God should never be taken lightly because He knows the beginning from the end.
Revelation 21:1-4. The great promise of the kingdom of God to come and His will to be established on earth as it is in heaven is finally completed when His temple comes down from heaven and settles among men. This will be a time of living in the perfection that God always intended for mankind; no sorrow, no tears, no sickness, no death, no pain and no evil. What a glorious day that we are destined for, and we are meant to invite as many as we can to come and drink from the fountain of life which Jesus freely offers.
Prayer
1. O Lord, we ask for grace to be obedient to the instructions that you give us. May we always remember that you are the great and mighty God who knows all things, that you are wiser than all of mankind in all their generations, that you are more interested in our good more than we can even desire for ourselves. Speak to us Lord, and let our faith rise and hinge on your word as we obey every instruction you give us. Thank you Father that we will see the manifestation of your goodness to us in the land of the living.
2. Father, we hope in your glorious promise of the physical manifestation of the kingdom of God among men. Thank you that you have chosen us to be partakers of this great kingdom, and have also appointed us to be ambassadors of it in our time and generation. May we use this appointment you have bestowed on us to bring many sons and daughters to you, as they abandon the kingdoms of this world to hold onto the kingdom of God.
