Reading for today
Old Testament: Exodus 29, 30, 31
New Testament: Matthew 27
Thoughts from today’s reading
Exodus 29:20. The blood of the sacrifice that was used to make atonement for Aaron and his sons to consecrate them to the work of ministry was put on 3 parts of their body, the right ear, the thumb of the right hand and the toe of the right foot.
As a priest to God what we hear with our ears, what we do with our hands and where we go with our feet are important to God.
Exodus 31:1-4. The detail that God gave for all the work to be done for the tabernacle was incredible. He did not leave the execution to unskilled persons, but He put wisdom into the heart of certain artisans to be able to do the work to the standard he required.
It’s interesting to note that the first person God mention is Bezalel who was the grandson of Hur that held up Moses’ hand in the battle against Amalek. God loves working with and blessing generations of those that love His purpose on the earth.
Matthew 27:32. Simon of Cyrene was compelled to carry Jesus cross. We see Jesus say in Matthew 5:31, that if they compel you to go a mile, then go two miles. He made that statement in reference to His times when the Romans had a rule that if any soldier asked a civilian to carry any object for them, then they were to do so for exactly 1 mile.
This means that Simon had to carry the cross of Jesus for about a mile.
There are laws of men that we feel are cruel and unjust, but we should realise that every thing man comes up with can be used to serve the purpose of God.
Prayers
1. Lord I ask that you lead me in the paths of righteousness for your names sake. Let me hear your voice and shut out every distraction. Let me work out my salvation with fear and trembling and let me be directed by your Spirit in all things.
2. Father, for every vision you have given to me, I pray that you send helpers who will have a spirit of understanding to work with me to fulfil your plan.
3. Thank you Lord for the sacrifice of Jesus for mankind. Father, may I be willing to bear the burden to share this message of your love, and go the extra mile to bring others to the knowledge of the truth.
