Day 273

Reading for today
Old Testament: Ezekiel 27, 28, 29, 30

Thoughts from today’s reading
Ezekiel 28. The proclamation against the prince of Tyre judges him for regarding himself as a god. The Lord’s problem was not with him being a god because He declared in Psalm 82:6 that “You are gods and children of the Most High”. The real issue which He had with this prince, and the princes of Egypt and other nations which believed their rulers were their god, is that we are meant to take the place of god to represent Him on the earth and not to replace Him. Our dominion is always an extension of His, and we are under His power. When we become exceedingly successful and powerful, we are never meant to overshadow the Most High and assume the authority and dominion that is only meant for Him. All these princes forgot that they were men and would pass away, and that they had no power to preserve their own lives. This scripture also reveals that such thinking lines up with what Lucifer did, trying to overthrow the dominion of God.

Prayer
1. Father, you said that you resist the proud but give grace to the humble. You are the giver of all good gifts and so we acknowledge you as the one that has blessed us with all that we are and all that we possess. By your grace we have grown and accomplished, by your mercy we have gained prominence and success. We vow to always give you the glory for these things and acknowledge that you made us gods to represent you on earth as you are in heaven, and never to replace you. We resist the spirit of pride which the devil stirs up, and we humble ourselves before you every single day. We return all thanks and praise to you now and always in Jesus’ name, amen.
