Reading for today
Old Testament: Exodus 32, 33, 34
New Testament: Matthew 28
Thoughts from today’s reading
Exodus 32:25-26. Moses saw that the people were unrestrained because Aaron had not restrained them, he then called for judgement on those who were in that state. The scriptures says where there is no vision the people cast off restraint . It is the work of the leader to keep putting vision before the peoples eyes so that they restrain themselves. We have a responsibility to keep the vision before our eyes, this ensures restraint and keeps judgement at bay.
Exodus 34:29-35. Moses face shone after his encounter with God. This is like what happened to Jesus when He went up the mount of transfiguration. We are changed from one level of glory to another when we appear before the presence of God.
Matthew 28:1-8. The presence of the angel had two different effects on the people at the tomb. The soldiers fell as those dead in fear, while the women were given a tour of the empty tomb. Those who seek the Lord will stand in awe in the day that His presence appears, those who want to prevent men from encountering the Lord will fall from fear when His presence appears.
Prayers
1. Father, let me be able to say like the apostle Paul that I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision. May I keep your will ever before my eyes and not be distracted by the things of this world which may lead to me casting off my restraint.
2. Lord I believe that I am changed when I encounter your presence. Let every veil be taken off my eyes as I look into your word to behold Jesus as He is. May I become like Him the more I see Him.
3. Thank you Lord that your presence builds me up and every enemy of my soul falls to rise no more and will follow me no further when I come into your presence.
