Day 282

Reading for today
Old Testament: Hosea 3, 4, 5, 6

Thoughts from today’s reading
Hosea 6:1-3. The discipline for doing wrong belongs to those who are loved and considered sons. Those who are not sons get a punishment without the opportunity for redemption or getting a second chance. We also see here a prophetic picture of our identification with the death , burial and resurrection of Christ, for he was stricken for us, he was in the grave and on the third day he was raised up to life again.

Prayer
1. Lord, we thank you for your great love and mercy towards us, that you consider us sons and will chastise us when we do wrong. This is for our own benefit so that we reap the rewards of life and escape the snares of sin and death (Hebrews 12:5-11). We thank you that when the punishment for sin was put on Christ, you saw us in Christ so that now we do not have to pay the price for the nature of sin but we can live in the righteousness that Jesus secured for us. We are grateful for eternal life and we continue to seek you so we know you more, and the great power of resurrection.
