Reading for today
Old Testament: Amos 6, 7, 8, 9
Thoughts from today’s reading
Amos 9:11-15. The Lord scattered the children of Israel from their land because of their sins, however, He promised that they would be restored to their land. God begins the process of restoration with the rebuilding of the tabernacle of David which symbolises the praise and worship of God. We then see that the land begins to produce crops in abundance. Psalm 67:5-7 reveals this as it says, when the people praise God, the earth will yield its increase.
Prayer
1. Lord, we thank you for you are a gracious God, slow to anger and full of compassion. You are interested in the restoration of your people because you know that we get depleted due to the business of life, struggles, disappointments or the consequences of our sins. Father, you have shown that the path to restoration is in the place of praise and worship which brings us into your presence where there is fullness of joy, peace and life forever more. May the tabernacle of David be rebuilt in our lives that we may replace all our complaints with thanksgiving. May our worship be in spirit and in truth and may we reconnect with God and His purpose for our lives. Thank you Lord for hearing our prayer in Jesus’ name, amen.
