Reading for today
Old Testament: Leviticus 7, 8, 9
New Testament: Mark 5
Thoughts from today’s reading
Leviticus 9. All the instructions that God gave to Moses for the work to be carried out in the tabernacle was completed in this chapter with the consecration of Aaron and his sons. They then carried out the first sacrifices for themselves and the children of Israel.
We see again the glory of God descending on the tabernacle at the completion of this service.
Every time we complete the instructions that God gives us, His glory will be revealed.
Mark 5:1-13. Jesus had just crossed over the sea after He rebuked a strong wind that was determined to destroy His boat. On getting safely to the other side, He is then confronted physically by a man possessed with a legion of devils. He also rebukes these devils and they leave the man and go into a herd of pigs which run down the hill and plunge themselves into the sea.
The devil will send circumstances to put us under, and when we overcome those circumstance, he then tries to attack us through a physical manifestation. But thanks be to God who always gives us the victory, for the same sea that he intended to drown Jesus and the disciples in was the same sea that all the demons plunged themselves into.
Mark 5:35-36. As soon as Jesus heard the word that was to discourage the ruler from believing there was hope for his daughter, He immediately spoke words to reassure him and keep his faith alive.
We must understand the power of words to help or to harm us. As soon as you hear anything that wants to take hope away from you, you must immediately reply with the word of faith that restores your trust in God.
Prayer
1. Lord I pray to always be reminded that whatever I do is done for your glory.
2. Thank you Jesus for you have given me victory over every attack of the enemy of my soul. I stand on your authority and declare victory in every area of my life. May whatever situation that has brought upheaval into my life be the same thing that will overpower the assignment set against me just like the demons plunged into the sea.
3. Today I declare the word of God over my life, I say in the face of sickness, I am healed. In the face of fear, I say I have the power of God in me. In the face of lack, I say God provides for my needs. In the face of discouragement, I say the greater one lives in me.
I counteract every negative word by the power of God’s word right now in Jesus name.
