Day 43

Reading for today

Old Testament: Numbers 10, 11 ,12
New Testament: Mark 15

Thoughts from today’s reading
Numbers 10:1-10. The trumpet sounds were used to let the children of Israel know what action was needed. Whether to gather at the tabernacle, to pack up and move camp, to prepare for war or to prepare for an appointed worship feast.
These verses clarify what was meant by blowing the trumpet or sounding the alarm as seen in other scriptures in the bible.
Numbers 11:1-3. One may wonder why the Lord was quick to judge the complaints of the children of Israel. In all their journey from Egypt into the wilderness, He had provided everything that they needed. He had given them promises that guaranteed that if they asked of Him, they would get what they asked, yet they persisted in complaining as though God would not help them. Those complaints were really an expression of unbelief.

Mark 15:1-5. One of the hardest things to do is to keep quiet when you are being accused for something that you did not do. In the times when the Romans ruled, they believed that everyone had a right to answer their accuser, and the judge had power to acquit the one who was not guilty. Pilate knew Jesus was not guilty, but he could not release Him because Jesus did not defend His case. This was part of the consecration He made to the Father to go through with the sacrifice of himself.

Prayer
1. Lord I repent of every complaint that I have made about anything in my life. You are the God that is my help and salvation and you have promised you would never leave me nor forsake me. Your very presence is enough security that I am guaranteed anything I need. I choose to praise you Father even when it seems like nothing is happening. Receive all of my thanks for all you have done and for all you will do.
2. Father help me to set a guard over my mouth and emotions when I am treated wrongly. You said we should bless and not curse those who treat us this way. I choose to obey your word and forgive those that persecute me as you forgave me in Christ. Thank you Lord for strength and grace to do this in Jesus name.
