Thoughts from today’s reading
Genesis 19:23-26. Lot and his immediate family received great mercies from the Lord so that they would not be destroyed in the city of Sodom and Gomorrah. Lot’s wife however looked back to the city, disobeying the instruction of the angels. The way of salvation instructs us on where we should be heading to live in safety. Disobedience to the way clearly pointed out leads to calamity.
Matthew 7:13-14. These verses also point to the importance of following the way of salvation. It is not a past time, but a resolute disposition to walk in the way that the Lord has shown.
Prayers
- Heavenly Father, may we always cooperate with your plan for our safety even if it means giving up what is familiar and comfortable to us for a journey into unknown territories.
- Lord Jesus, you said you are the way. As you abide in us may we always make the choices that lead us on the path of life.
