Day 81

Reading for today
Old Testament: 1 Samuel 5, 6, 7
New Testament: John 13

Thoughts from today’s reading
1 Samuel 5. The idol of Dagon which is lifeless, all of a sudden responded to the presence of Gods ark and bowed down to worship. When the Philistines moved it back to its place beside the ark, again the idol moved and it was broken, to show that there is no god that can stand beside or be compared to Jehovah. Jesus said if men withhold their praise, the rocks will cry out.

John 13:12-17. Jesus showed His disciples a great act of humility and service in washing their feet. This was the job of the lowest servant in a household during the times of Jesus.
He then said we are not greater than our master so if He could take the lowest placed to serve others, we likewise should do the same.

Prayer
1. Lord, I praise you because as surely as you live, every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that you are Lord of all. Hallelujah because you have given me breath, I praise you with all that is within me and I do not forget all the benefits that you have given me. Thank you that even every enemy or man made god or system will bow before you or be broken at your presence, their enterprise will never be fulfilled against your anointed ones. Thank you Lord in Jesus’ name.
2. Lord Jesus, you said we should let the mind which was in you to be in us also. You took on the nature of man and humbled yourself to serve man, you endured suffering and death so that we might have life. We pray the this mind of service will grow in us and our love for our fellow believer will abound in acts of service. As we do this, may we truly be blessed as you have promised.
