Day 88

Reading for today
Old Testament: 1 Samuel 26, 27, 28
New Testament: John 20

Thoughts from today’s reading
1 Samuel 28. King Saul goes to seek a spiritist because he is not able to hear from God anymore. He is going back to the things that he once opposed and disallowed in the land of Israel. Disobedience to God without a truly godly repentance leads us further and further away from the path of righteousness and over into paths of darkness to seek help.

John 20:1-18. In this account of Jesus’ resurrection, Mary told the disciples that the body of Jesus was not in the tomb. Peter and John ran to the tomb to see for themselves, but they only saw the clothes that had been used to wrap the body of Jesus and they left as quickly as they came. Mary however still stayed longer at the tomb and when she looked again she saw two angels in the tomb and shortly after she saw the resurrected Christ.
We need to be willing to spend time in the place where we expect the Lord to be so that we are able to see more than the physical and have spiritual revelations.

Prayer
1. Lord may we never move so far a way from your commandments and will that we begin to walk in paths of darkness. You said if we confess our sins, You are faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. May we always be quick to repent and turn back to you when we have walked in disobedience to your word. Thank you Lord that you will never reject us because of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ in whom we have believed and hold on to.
2. Lord I pray as David prayed that one thing I have desired is to dwell in the presence of the Lord all my days. May I always prioritise your presence and not be pressured by life to rush out to my daily tasks without meeting with you. As I come boldly to your throne, let my eyes be opened to see great and mighty things that you have prepared for me.
