Day 99

Reading for today
Old Testament: 1 Kings 4, 5, 6
New Testament: Acts 10

Thoughts from today’s reading
1 Kings 4:22-23. What Solomon’s court ate on a daily basis was quite a lot, but the offering he gave to the Lord was at least 5 times more than what he consumed on a daily basis. This showed how much Solomon honoured the Lord above himself.

Acts 10:3-4. Cornelius the soldier who was a devout person yet not converted, had a revelation of an angel appearing to him. The fact that he observed means he spent time to understand what he was seeing, he was looking with a discerning eye to know if what he was seeing was real or true. When he had come to a conclusion about what he was seeing, he asked the angel the reason for his appearing.
If Cornelius applied such discernment, then as believers, we need to hold on to the advice of the scriptures to test every spirit.

Prayer
1. Heavenly Father, may our love and honour for you not be in words alone, but in actions that show this love. May we always be willing to put you above self, and may what we give you of our time, resources and relationships always be more than we reserve for ourselves.
2. Thank you Lord for the Spirit of discernment you have given us. May we be quick to test any spirit or revelation that comes to us with the standard of your revealed word written in the scriptures. We thank you for manifestations of angels who help those that are appointed to salvation.
